Motherwort

€24,95

The number one herb of choice for postpartum throughout European history. Centuries ago traditional herbalism already described its ability to heal the womb, reduce excessive bleeding and simultaneously stimulate the release of all remaining blood and fluids.

Who this is for

You want to support your womb and the blood that flows from it. This can be in postpartum, but also during your monthly cycle. You are wondering whether your blood flow is optimal, or the cramping really needs to be this bad. Motherwort has been praised for centuries in traditional herbalism for the unique ability to have a dual effect on the womb: to reduce excessive bleeding and to stimulate a full cleanse of the womb when the flow is too light.

If you recognise yourself in this, this blend was made for you.

Ingredients

Organic and local Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca, herba) extracted in organic alcohol and distilled water (65% v/v, gluten free).

How to use it

Take 2–3ml directly under the tongue or in a small glass of tea or water. Hold 30 seconds before swallowing for the fastest effect. Another option would be to add to your water bottle and drink throughout the day, although this will depend on your taste experience.

Consistency matters more than timing. The effect of herbs usually lasts for 3-4 hours. These plants work best as daily nourishment rather than acute intervention.

On alcohol content, especially for the breastfeeding mothers: a single dose contains less alcohol than a ripe banana. To be precise — 1/8th of a teaspoon at 70% alcohol. This is for the highest extraction ratio across all Rooted Mothers tinctures.

Contra indications

Pregnancy. Motherwort is not recommended during pregnancy due to its observed effects on uterine muscle tone. I want to emphasize that this is a real contraindication, not a precautionary disclaimer.

Heart medication. One case report from 1999 suggested a possible interaction between motherwort and spironolactone. The evidence is limited and contested — the dosage was unknown and other herbs were involved. If you are taking medication for a heart condition, please discuss with your healthcare provider before use.

If you are taking pharmaceutical medication, I recommend a conversation with your healthcare provider before introducing any new herbal preparation. I also answer every message directly — reach me on Instagram or by email.
